چکیده

For mechanical drive steam turbines, the investigation results of corrosion fatigue phenomena in the transient zone are introduced, including basic phenomena on expansion line and actual design and damage experience. These results were analyzed from the standpoint of stress intensity during the start of cracking. In order to resolve such problems, preventive coating and blade design methods against fouling and corrosive environments were developed. Detailed evaluation test results are given for coating performance using a unique test procedure simulating fouling phenomena and washing conditions. Finally, the results of the successful modification of internals and online washing results onsite are introduced.

An Outrun Competition of Corrosion Fatigue and Stress Corrosion Cracking on Crack Initiation in a Compressor Blade

First row rotating blades of four axial-flow compressors were prematurely fractured. Previous investigations showed that the site atmosphere contains corrosive compounds which lead to an increase in possibility of pitting on the blades. It was also revealed that the crack was originated from two corrosion pits. Thus, this work is conducted to ascertain which of fatigue or stress corrosion crack...

Corrosion Fatigue of 17-4pH Stainless Steel in a Simulated Sea Water Solution

Since martensitic precipitation hardened 17-4pH stainless steel has been widely used in corrosive environments, evaluation of its corrosion fatigue behavior is important. In this research, after microstructural studies, mechanical, corrosion, fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were performed on 17-4pH specimens. Fatigue and corrosion fatigue tests were carried out at the  stress ratio of -1 an...

Investigation of corrosion behavior of galvanized mild steel by improved Zn acidic bath, containing nano-ZnO particles

In this study, nano-ZnO particles were deposited on mild steel sheets from an acidic zinc bath. These particles were synthesized by using an auto combustion technique. The effect of concentration of nano- ZnO particles on the corrosion behavior of depositions was investigated. The results of salt spray tests and electrochemical measurements showed that corrosion resistance is improved by additi...

AN INVESTIGATION ON EFFECT OF BOND COAT REPLACEMENT ON HOT CORROSION PROPERTIES OF THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS

In the present study NiCrAlY bond coating layer was produced by electroplating against common atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Both types of the bond coats were applied on IN738LC base metal then, the YSZ (ZrO2-8% Y2O3) thermal barrier top layer was coated by atmospheric plasma spray technique. Hot corrosion is one of the main destructive factors in thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) which come ...

Modeling of Corrosion-Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Based on Least Square Support Vector Machine Technique

Understanding crack growth behavior in engineering components subjected to cyclic fatigue loadings is necessary for design and maintenance purpose. Fatigue crack growth (FCG) rate strongly depends on the applied loading characteristics in a nonlinear manner, and when the mechanical loadings combine with environmental attacks, this dependency will be more complicated. Since, the experimental inv...
